How to extract the white out of a Photoshop document

Here is a quick and easy way to take out the white in an image in Photoshop. This applies to any white area on the image. The conventional way to do something like this is making use of the magic wand tool in Photoshop. Here I’ll show you how to extract the white out or any color for that matter in just a few clicks.
See the image of the lion below. I’m going to show you how to extract the white out.

1. Select the image layer and make sure that the layer is unlocked
2. While the layer is still selected click, on Select/Color Range, the Color Range dialog box opens up
3. Use the pointer and select any white area on the image
4. Use the fuzziness range to determine your best result
5. Click OK
6. Press Ctrl-X to cut……thats it!!!
